What is Behind Your Door

by Sehu Kessa Saa Tabansi

between the axis of a pendulum of poverty
a sliding board of have not’s
looking up to the shining sun of haver’s
the smell transforms surrounding my radius
the stench is crime
a bombarded mind rest upon the door
i sense opportunity beyond
red concrete bricks
there is a sight of a rainbow
we call it the future
for us it became police’s death blows
red, white, and blue
black pain
at present the social conflicts rain
on the step outside my door
lamentations of many seasons gone by
i feel the cold of calamities abroad
all over the many communities doorways
yet and still i continuously stand
behind a tall wide shadow
awaiting to embark on a journey
